  • Properties:Black monoclinic crystal or crystalline powder, highly soluble in water. Dissolve in ethanol, acetone, pyridine, and ammonia. Insoluble in benzene.
  • Application:Used as a photographic sensitizer. Used as a brominating agent in organic synthesis. It can also be used in copper vapor lasers, where hydrogen bromide placed in a conduit reacts with molten copper under discharge conditions to form copper bromide vapor. This laser can produce yellow or green light and is used in dermatology.
